A city taken as a city, not a stop
Most people are given four hours in Ephesus. Two days lets you take it as a city: the Library of Celsus and the Great Theatre, of course, but also the Terrace Houses where the mosaics are still on the floors of Roman living rooms, the museum in Selcuk where the finds ended up, and the Basilica of St John on its hill, where the crowds are not. Lunch on the first day is cooked in a village house. The second day climbs to Sirince, a hill village of stone houses and fruit orchards, with an optional tasting of the wines the village makes from them.
Two days with a licensed guide and private transport, from Kusadasi, Selcuk or Izmir. Joins cleanly to the beginning or end of a longer journey.

Day 1 Ephesus and its museum Kusadasi or Selcuk
The Celsus library, the Great Theatre and the Terrace Houses, then the foundations of the Temple of Artemis. Lunch is cooked in a village house. The afternoon takes in the Ephesus museum in Selcuk and the Basilica of St John.

Day 2 Sirince
The hill village of Sirince: cobbled streets, a long lunch, and the fruit wines the village has made for generations. A transfer to the airport afterwards, or on to whatever comes next.

One night in a selected hotel in Kusadasi or Selcuk, bed and breakfast. If your taste runs elsewhere, any style of hotel is arranged just as happily.
